With SW21, all you need to do is input one cable from the LNB that captures 91° satellite and input another cable from the LNB that captures 82° (see image below). The output of the SW21 switch will connect to the receiver and you will be ready to receive signal from both satellites using this setup. Since each LNB has 2 output ports ...
This spring we seemed to have issues with HD channels coming from the 82 satellite. I checked the strength, I have 100% on 91 telling me its pretty much locked in, but 52-60 on 82 and sometimes it seemed to fluctuate lower. I thought ok. maybe the line or the head on the dish. i ran a new line down to the dish and seemed to be the same.
On the TV, set the satellite to 91 and the transponder to 1. If you don't know how to get to this screen, press Menu and then numbers 6, 1, 1 on your receiver remote. Now you are ready to point the satellite. Tip: Either have someone watch the TV screen while you move the dish sideways or setup the TV somewhere where you can see the TV screen ...
If you are just using 1 LNBF to do the aiming as suggested (91 LNBF in the 119 slot) and are hitting 82 you need to keep trying. Further West and higher is where 91 should be. After setting the skew for your location you should not need to change it again, unless the Mast is NOT vertical.
I'm trying to set up my ExpressVu and I'm locked on to satellite 82 (100% signal). The problem is that I'm not able to use it or watch any shows. When it tries to download the program data, it says it's using sat 91, but I have no signal on 91. I can't find anywhere in the menu how to change it to tell it to use sat 82.
To get 91 & 82 at the same time you also need a dish that can rotate like a steering wheel, 91 is higher in the sky and I've never been able to get both at the same time without turning the dish so one lnb is higher than the other, might be possible without but with likely very low signal on 82 that won't lock which is also a weaker signal on …
91 will still be in use but it will be for HD channels like Nimiq 4 at 82. Nimiq 6 is at 91 currenly and is newer than Nimiq 4 at 82 so there's no way they would stop using their newest satellite unless something happen to it. Splitting the HD load between both satellites would be better overall in term of image quality and signal.
The line of sight for Nimiq 91/82 meant I had to... This small house on a hillside with a narrow lot didn't have alot of options. Dish was mounted on the front. The line of sight for Nimiq 91/82 ...
